Terrance “TJ Starr” Dennie is a Stellar Award nominated music producer, educator and father. With roots in Gary, IN, Dennie hails from a musical family, best known as The Blakely Family Singers. His mother is a renowned national singing artist, and his father is an international bass player. As for Dennie, he took after several family members and played the drums before he later discovered his love for the keyboard. There, he mastered Classical, R&B, Pop and Gospel music.
His musical inspirations include the likes of Tyron Cooper, Darkchild, Timbaland, Warryn Campbell, Aaron Lindsey, Lance Tolbert and David Allen Blakely, many of whose sounds are heard in Dennie’s work with notable artists such as Judah Band, Keenan Billups, Andraye Speed, J Harris, Deniece Williams, Michael Thomas, Arison Walton and Earl Bynum.
Dennie’s talents have landed him three Stellar Award nominations as well as a consideration for the coveted Grammy Award. His musical genius in Judah Band’s “For My Good” helped land the upbeat hit at number two on Billboard’s Gospel music chart.
Dennie earned a M.S. in Music Technology from Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis. He currently lives in Indianapolis, IN, and is a school teacher with Indianapolis Public Schools. He has two children, Terryn Jordan Dennie and Terrance Dennie, Jr.
